Bijwoorden van mening en commentaar engels

Er zijn enkele bijwoorden en bijwoordelijke uitdrukkingen die ons iets vertellen over het gezichtspunt of de mening van de spreker met betrekking tot een handeling. Deze bijwoorden verschillen van andere bijwoorden, omdat ze ons niet vertellen hoe een handeling plaatsvond. Bijwoorden van mening en commentaar wijzigen hele bijzinnen en niet alleen enkele werkwoorden, bijwoorden of bijvoeglijk naamwoorden. Er is geen echt verschil tussen bijwoorden van mening en commentaar, behalve hun plaats in de zin. Veel bijwoorden die gebruikt kunnen worden als bijwoorden van mening kunnen ook gebruikt worden als bijwoorden van commentaar. In sommige gevallen is een bijwoord veel meer gebruikelijk dan een ander.

Plaats in de zin

Bijwoorden van mening worden aan het begin van de zin, of minder vaak voorkomend, aan het eind van de zin geplaatst. Ze worden gewoonlijk van de rest van de zin afgescheiden door een komma. Bijwoorden van commentaar worden voor het hoofdwerkwoord geplaatst, tenzij het werkwoord "to be" gebruikt wordt. In dat geval kan het bijwoord zowel voor als achter het werkwoord staan. In sommige gevallen worden bijwoorden van commentaar die voor het werkwoord staan ook van de rest van de zin afgescheiden door komma's, maar in de meeste gevallen zal dat niet zo zijn. In de onderstaande voorbeelden worden bijwoorden van mening en commentaar getoond met hun juiste plaats in de zin. Als een plaats in de zin ongebruikelijk, gekunsteld of te formeel is voor gesproken taal, wordt dat aangegeven met een asterisk.
